BRIEF
A mother woke up on a Monday morning to get ready for a normal start to the week ahead by getting her kids up and ready for the day. She noticed that her 12-year-old daughter’s cat was awake and she found that to be odd, maybe even out of place. Her daughter’s cat typically slept in her daughter’s room at night. When she went to her daughter’s bedroom, she wasn’t there.
A quick search of their apartment did not resolve the panic that set in and it would appear that 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray was missing. Her mother tracked Jocelyn’s cell phone and found that it was located near a local creek. She got in her car and drove to the creek where she could see police walking the creek line.
Within just moments Alexis Nungaray would learn that her 12-year-old daughter, Jocelyn Nungaray, was found by a passerby who called 911 to report a deceased child in the creek as she drove home that day. This type of devastation has become too commonplace and almost expected as we open our news feeds on a daily basis.
Jocelyn allegedly left their apartment without telling her mother. At one time stories of sneaking out as teenagers were later joked about, but lately they have become a common tale of a story that ended horrifically. Jocelyn appeared to have taken a walk to the convenience store where security cameras show two men walking with her, those two men have officially been detained by police for questioning just three days after Jocelyn was found.

“We are looking into whatever communications that could have happened. We’re not sure how that was, but we have reason to believe that the family did not know that she was leaving the house,”
