HOW YOU CAN HELP

Please share flyers, news releases, and other media regarding Lindsey and baby John's disappearance to help spread awareness. If you have information about their disappearance, please contact one of the tip lines provided.

BRIEF

On December 2, 2024 the Crawfordville Police Department received a missing persons report for Lindsey Cox and her infant son who were staying with family in Crawfordsville.

After initially reporting her missing, investigators were able to quickly make contact with Lindsey and removed her from their missing persons database.

Lindsey’s family soon contacted law enforcement after she was removed from the missing persons database to communicate their concerns. Even though it may seem innocent, given that they did contact Lindsey, the situation calls for a thorough investigation into Lindsey and her baby’s safety.

In October, criminal charges were filed against Lindsey’s boyfriend, John Byrers, for domestic abuse including strangulation, stealing personal property and stealing a child. Byrers was charged on October 23, 2024 in Tulsa County, Oklahoma.

Byrers was released from custody on bond just days after his arrest. A preliminary hearing for the charges is scheduled for December 16, 2024.

Given that information, it is completely reasonable to understand why Lindsey’s family is concerned after she disappeared from their home with her infant baby. A criminal domestic abuse case is pending and no one has physically seen Lindsey to verify her current circumstances and if she is indeed safe.

Crawfordsville police reinstated the missing persons report for both Lindsey and her infant son, John. They also advised her to visit a local police department to verify she is safe. As of December 12, Lindsey has not verified her safety with law enforcement aside from initial contact with her on December 2 and December 7.

It is difficult to determine if she is being coerced unless law enforcement speaks to her in person.

It appears the John Byrers has connections to Cherokee County, Tulsa County, and Wagoner County in Oklahoma.

Investigators believe they have left Indiana and could possibly be in Oklahoma.
